I’m Trying To Stop Giving People Unsolicited Advice

The topic of unsolicited advice has been buzzing around my brain lately and I wanted to sit down quickly and jot down some of my ideas on the subject, if for no other reason than so those ideas would exist somewhere other than just in my mind, distracting me from things that are probably more interesting or important.

I have a confession:

I give people unsolicited advice a lot.

I know, I’m sorry.

I’m actively trying to stop because I know it’s annoying. I know that a lot of people really dislike unsolicited advice.

I don’t. Dislike it, that is.

I actually have sort of mixed feelings about it but I can’t say that I don’t like it.

Other people do though and that’s fair, and completely understandable. I don’t want to hurt or offend anyone so I’m trying to break my bad habit.

My Perspective On Giving and Receiving Unsolicited Advice

When someone I know is struggling or hurting all I can think about it is trying to help them fix whatever it is that’s causing them distress. Often there’s not much I can actually do…other than give suggestions for possible solutions.
