My coffee is cold again.

It always seems to be cold these days, save for those first few moments when it’s freshly poured (or freshly reheated!) and therefore too hot for me to drink. So I put it aside to cool, then forget about it.

Because: Babies.

Then one of those babies lets out a shriek.

It’s not an angry shriek, a sad one, or meant to indicate fear or danger. It’s just this happy — horrible — sound that she’s discovered her voice can make and so she does it often. Joyfully. Noisily.

And I think, “Ugh, I need more coffee to get through this day.” as I reach for my mug.

And it’s cold.

Again.

Did you know if you sign up for a Medium membership using my referral link, I get a percentage of the membership fee? It’s pretty cool, and maybe I can use it to buy hot coffee? Or a mug that keeps my coffee hot longer? The possibilities are endless!
